Forty lessons, thirty minutes a day. Dense, ordered and demanding — the whole road, not a daily streak.
Level A1 is free forever. No card, no trial that expires, no subscription.
A2, B1 and B2 are one payment each — €29 / €39 / €39, VAT included, 14-day refund, no questions asked.
Rumo is a complete course in Brazilian Portuguese, built to be dense. Forty lessons take you from oi, tudo bem? to arguing a case, catching a joke, and hearing what someone politely did not say.
It is made for one person working alone, about half an hour a day. Every lesson drills vocabulary, verbs and grammar, then makes you produce them — writing your own sentences and saying them out loud — and ends in a test you have to pass at 70% before the level's exam will open. Nothing in it is decoration.
The method is repetition. Every lesson re-drills the one before it, so words meet you again a week later, then a month later, in a new sentence. That is the part most courses skip, and it is the reason people forget everything they learned by Lição 12.
What it is not: a replacement for talking to Brazilians. Real conversation needs real people, and no course can hand you that. Rumo does everything underneath it — including speaking drills and dialogues in every lesson — so that when you do sit down with someone, you already have the words, the tenses and the ear. The only new thing is the nerves.

Numbers, not adjectives.

Each lesson ends with a Fala você block: you say the sentences out loud and write your own. Not a substitute for a real conversation partner — the training that makes one worth having.
Every test pulls from earlier lessons too. Your weakest tags come back as extra practice until you stop getting them wrong.
Você, the gerund, open vowels, real gíria and the crase rules people actually use. São Paulo and Rio, not Lisbon.
Forty stories, one per lesson, each longer than the last, using only words you have met. By Lição 40 you are reading irony and subtext.
Each level ends in a real exam, locked until every lesson is at 70%. You retry only what you got wrong, until it is all correct.
Sixty chapters you can read on their own — every tense, the subjunctive, regência, colocação — written as explanations, not tables.

Every score and every lesson you finish is saved to your account. Start on the laptop, carry on from the phone on the train — same place, same progress.
Lessons you have opened stay on your device. The metro, a plane, a dead spot in the countryside — the lesson still runs, and your scores sync the moment you are back online.
Start at A1. It is free and complete — eight lessons, an exam, stories and the whole grammar library. Decide about the rest once you know whether this suits you.
Introduce yourself, order food, tell the time, handle money, talk about your family and what you did yesterday. Land in São Paulo, take a taxi, check in and order dinner — all in Portuguese.
The past you keep needing, pronouns, directions, shopping, health, obligation and the connectors that turn sentences into paragraphs. Twelve lessons and an exam.
The subjunctive, conditionals, the future, telling a long story properly and saying what you think without sounding blunt. Ten lessons and an exam.
Crase, regência, the formal register, street gíria, argumentative writing, and hearing the irony under a polite sentence. Ten lessons and an exam.

I'm Dutch. My partner is Brazilian, and I wanted to talk to her family — properly, not in five years' time.
So I tried the apps, the textbooks, the classes. All of them were missing the same thing: density. Weeks of tapping before you meet a past tense. Grammar spread so thin you have forgotten chapter one by chapter four. And almost nothing to actually read.
Rumo is the course I wanted and could not find. Compact grammar you can hold in your head. Vocabulary and verb lists built for repetition, not for browsing. And a graded story in every single lesson, because reading is where a language stops being a subject and starts being a language.
I designed all forty lessons over several months, for myself first. Then I commissioned a Brazilian teacher to read the whole thing — all forty grammar lessons and all forty stories — before any of it went on sale.
Lição 1 takes about half an hour. By the end of it you can introduce yourself, say where you are from and ask how someone is — properly, not phrasebook-style.
No card. No trial period. A1 stays free. Paid levels: one payment, VAT included, 14-day refund.
